Simulation Software RotoCalc (Available soon)
RotoCalc is an intuitive simulation software for analyzing and designing rotors and propellers using the Blade Element Method (BEM). It allows users to evaluate existing designs or develop new rotor and propeller configurations tailored to specific operating conditions.
Isolated Rotor
RotoCalc can simulate isolated rotors or propellers without external aerodynamic interference.
Obligue Inflow
Unlike many available open-source solutions, RotoCalc supports oblique inflow conditions. This enables the analysis of non-axisymmetric flow fields, offering a more realistic simulation for most applications.
Rigid Blade
Rotor blades are modeled as rigid bodies, which is typically sufficient for UAV rotors and propellers.
Flapping no lead/lag
Blade flapping dynamics can be modeled, while lead-lag motion is currently not implemented. However, for small rotor systems, flapping alone often provides significant insight into rotor behavior.
Autogyro rotor
The latest version of RotoCalc can simulate free-spinning autogyro rotors. While mechanically simple due to the absence of an engine, these systems are more complex to simulate because their rotational speed is not prescribed, but dynamically determined.
Validated with wind tunnel measurements
Over the past decades, RotoCalc has been repeatedly validated against wind tunnel data. This long-standing experience helps minimize simulation errors and enhances confidence in the results.
Graphical 3D Visualization
Simulation results can be visualized in 3D. Users can “ride along” with the rotor using an integrated camera view, providing an intuitive understanding of inflow conditions and the rotor’s current operating state. This is complemented by detailed 3D contour plots for in-depth analysis.

WingGen (Available soon)
WingGen is a software tool for fast and easy generation of wing and rotor blade geometries, suitable for both CAD applications and simulations. It is fully compatible with RotoCalc, enabling seamless transfer of rotor designs into CAD environments.
Automatic geometry generation for wings and rotor blades
By specifying planform shape, twist distribution, and airfoil geometry, WingGen can generate a full 3D wing or rotor blade model.
Automatic generation of winglets with a smooth transition
Thanks to a custom algorithm, WingGen can produce winglets with smooth transitions and undistorted spline geometry – free from discontinuities or oscillations.
CAD Export
Supports export to various file formats for use in CAD and simulation software.
